KING's held a "Disaster Preparedness Training" on December 5th to enhance the ability of all employees to respond to emergencies and sudden crises. The training was centered on the government's newly released  "In Case of Crisis: Taiwan's National Public Safety Guide" (as referenced in the provided files). The content presented to all colleagues included items such as  "Supplies Preparation,"  designed to address various disasters including air raids, military invasion, earthquakes, typhoons, tsunamis, landslides, and barrier lake collapse.

Simulated Air Raid Alarm and Evacuation Response

One of the key focuses of this training was to familiarize colleagues with the standard operating procedures for responding to an air raid while at the company. During the course, employees actively listened to various alarm sounds, including the tsunami alarm and the 15-second-on, 5-second-on, 5-second-on air raid intermittent alarm, thereby improving their on-the-spot identification skills through sound experience. KING's emphasized: "Disaster preparedness is not limited to the workplace; families must prepare simultaneously." The course specially arranged for colleagues to complete a personal disaster preparedness checklist on-site, which included:

  • Contents of the Emergency Evacuation Bag (Go Bag)
  • Emergency Evacuation Site Map
  • Agreed-upon Family Emergency Meeting Point (to prevent loss of contact if network services are down during a disaster)
  • Important Relatives and Friends Contact Information (Mobile phone numbers are recommended)

Furthermore, colleagues were encouraged to download the  "Fire and Disaster Prevention e-Link APP"   for real-time look-up of the nearest disaster shelters.

Building a Family and Community Safety Net

Towards the end of the session, most colleagues were surprised to learn that the nearest air-raid shelter for the company is located in the adjacent basement, resolving a long-standing question about the evacuation location.

One colleague shared that since they have a habit of camping, their family is already equipped with comprehensive disaster supplies; another colleague humorously suggested: "Perhaps we should just take shelter at Costco." Additionally, a colleague who had participated in the Hualien volunteer group shared their experience of having actually heard the tsunami alarm, further reinforcing their understanding of the importance of disaster preparedness.

Preparedness Ensures Composure

The entire training concluded successfully in a formal yet relaxed atmosphere. CEO Charles summarized: "Our goal is to establish a concept of prevention. It is best if the air raid alarm never sounds, but in the event that a disaster strikes, we want to be able to face it with composure and not be flustered."

Through this timely and practical training, KING's not only fulfilled its routine employee education but also further constructed a comprehensive personal and family safety net for all colleagues.
