On May 29, Sheila Su, Executive Director of KING's, was invited by Professor Chung-Lien Lin from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Chien Hsin University of Science and Technology: UCH (健行科技大學) . She gave a special lecture titled “KING's Solution: The Path to Smart Manufacturing and Sustainable Development” to over 60 students, sharing real-world industry experience and future insights.
The Spirit of Dragon Boat Racing: Intent Drives Progress
Sheila began the lecture by sharing her recent participation in the World Masters Games (WMG), where she won two silver medals in dragon boat racing. She used the phrase “One heart, One boat” to illustrate how teamwork and shared intent are essential — both in sports and in business. On a dragon boat, every paddler must follow the rhythm of the drummer and stay in sync with teammates to move forward through the waves.
Mechanical Engineering: From Top Choice to a New Rise
Sheila asked students why they chose mechanical engineering and how they feel about it now. She mentioned that 30 to 40 years ago, mechanical engineering was the top choice on university admission lists in Taiwan but was later gradually replaced by law and business fields. However, she predicted that with the rapid development of AI, mechanical engineering would re-emerge as a popular discipline within the next 10 years. She explained that AI can now surpass humans in data memory and interpretation, which may impact talents in liberal arts, law, and business. However, AI currently lacks the ability to act in the physical world, making the integration of mechanical engineering and AI a future trend.
Critical Thinking: Key to the AI Era
Sheila emphasized that in this era of information explosion, critical thinking is more important than ever. Being able to tell facts from false or biased information and to think independently is a key talent. In the future, she said, success will come from strong human-AI collaboration. Combining “human insight” with “machine execution” will be the foundation of smart manufacturing.
Brand Philosophy: A Dual Commitment
Sheila also shared KING's core brand philosophy: “Green Solution, Machine Soulmate.” Machine Soulmate means machines should do more than just produce — they should serve human needs and work with empathy. AI is a strategy to make machines smarter and more human-friendly. Green Solution reflects KING's dedication to sustainability — not only in products, but also by helping clients lower their carbon footprint and protect the environment.
At the end of the lecture, Sheila thanked Professor Lin for the invitation and praised the students for their active participation. She said KING's will continue to support industry-academia cooperation and help develop the next generation of green tech talent — aiming to fulfill both corporate goals and social responsibility.
