KING'S SmartEdge Showcased at 2026 Taiwan Design Expo Press Conference

The 2026 Taiwan Design Expo will take place from September24 to October11. This year marks the first time the event will be held in Taoyuan. Under the theme “Taoyuan in Flow,” the expo will present the dynamic energy created by the intersection of urban culture, industrial clusters, and design innovation.

At the “2026 Taiwan Design Expo - Taipei Pre-Opening Press Conference” held on September2, the Ministry of Economic Affairs unveiled the highlights of this year's exhibition. KING'S, headquartered in Guishan, Taoyuan, was invited to showcase its SmartEdge desktop low-pressure injection molding machine, bringing Taoyuan's local manufacturing strength onto the design stage.

SmartEdge Makes the Low-Pressure Injection Process Visible

Extending the brand philosophy of “Green Solution, Machine Soulmate,” SmartEdge transforms the low-pressure injection molding process, which is usually applied in factory production lines, into an interactive experience that visitors can watch, operate, and understand up close. Compared with traditional high-pressure injection molding, low-pressure injection molding uses bio-based materials and low-pressure encapsulation technology. It can be applied to PCBs, wires, and electronic modules, providing waterproof, dustproof, and structural protection to meet the encapsulation needs of electronic components.

The equipment also uses AI data to display the injection status inside the mold, making a process that is usually hidden inside factories clear and visible. Visitors can not only see the finished product, but also understand how materials, technology, and design work together to complete it, further experiencing the real-world application of smart manufacturing and sustainability.

On-Site Operation Turns Sustainable Manufacturing into a Real Experience

To make the process more than a static display, an on-site hands-on demonstration was arranged at the press conference. KING'S Executive Director Sheila introduced SmartEdge to Chief Secretary Ming-Chih Chuang of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, explaining how it uses bio-based materials for waterproof encapsulation of electronic components. Chief Secretary Chuang then personally operated the equipment to make a customized mobile phone charging cable. From starting the low-pressure injection process to completing the encapsulated product, a professional industrial process was transformed into an experience that visitors could participate in, allowing guests to intuitively understand how sustainable manufacturing can be applied to everyday products.

From Product Showcase to Cross-Disciplinary Dialogue

The event also created opportunities for KING'S to reconnect and exchange ideas with long-time friends from the design and industrial sectors. Guests included Pacific Cycles founder Michael Lin and Chairwoman Nina Lin, Kenmoku Design Director Hsin-Chang Huang, Taiwan Design Research Institute Vice President Hsin-Pao Lin, and main visual designer Akibo Lee. Together, they exchanged views on manufacturing, design, materials, and sustainable development.
