On September 28, 2025, during the Teachers’ Day long weekend, KING's Solution launched a “Volunteer Day.” A team formed by company colleagues and supportive friends went to Guangfu Township in Hualien, personally participating in post-disaster cleanup. This action transformed the company’s core value of “Contribution” into concrete practice, bringing strength to the recovery efforts in the disaster area.
Starting Together, Moving Forward with Love
This volunteer team, composed of three vehicles, departed from Taoyuan at 4:30 a.m. on the 28th. The cars were loaded with rain boots, shovels, and other tools and supplies, along with blessings from friends. The initiative stemmed from the Friday morning meeting on September 26, when CEO Charles emphasized that one of KING's core cultural values is “Contribution”—giving to society and others. With the proposal of Executive Director Sheila, the company immediately decided to call on willing colleagues to go to Guangfu, Hualien to assist with cleanup. The company also pledged to cover all expenses and grant participants one day of “Volunteer Leave,” ensuring they could join without concerns.
The Fulfillment of Teamwork
The team arrived at the “Good People Center” supply hub in Hualien City at 8 a.m. Due to heavy crowds at the train station, the team adjusted their plan and drove directly to the disaster area’s outskirts. Despite severe traffic on Highway 193, the volunteers showed unwavering enthusiasm and perseverance, parking their vehicles and walking 2 kilometers with equipment to reach their first destination—the “Little Light Story House.”
Since most of the site had already been cleared the previous day by other volunteers, the team shifted to assist a nearby residence. Inside, soil deposits were as deep as 25 cm. The volunteers worked in unison, passing buckets of soil out one by one. Charles shared: “Though shoveling and carrying soil was exhausting, as I worked, my mind became completely empty and I entered a state of ‘flow.’ The best part was our teamwork—26 people working four hours together, finally revealing the terrazzo floor. The sense of satisfaction was overwhelming.”
Sonia, a volunteer from CleanTech, added: “Seeing every soul focused, striving, and simply helping others—we resonated together in that moment, and it was truly beautiful and touching.”
Cross-Cultural Teamwork and the Meaning of a Birthday
This effort also highlighted cross-cultural teamwork and humanitarian care. Three colleagues from the Philippines responded immediately after Friday’s meeting. Senior colleague Wens explained their perspective: “As residents of a Pacific island nation frequently struck by typhoons, we know all too well that when disasters happen back home, government and social support is very limited—most people are left to survive on their own.” Once on-site, they quickly picked up tools, formed a natural rhythm, and tirelessly shoveled and hauled soil, demonstrating powerful action and unity. Notably, the cleanup day coincided with Wens’ birthday. He never mentioned it, instead quietly working alongside his teammates. Only later, when his daughter’s Facebook birthday message was seen, did everyone realize he had chosen to give his birthday a greater meaning through this selfless service.
Though the trip was short, the experience became an unforgettable memory for the volunteers. The company is grateful for the many friends and supporters along the way. Post-disaster recovery will still require months of effort and manpower. KING's Solution will continue to support Hualien’s recovery and encourage colleagues to extend the spirit of “Contribution” through real action.
